In this question on the survey, respondees could choose as many of the words below as they liked to describe how they felt about their periods. "Annoying" ranked as the most popular choice, while none of the approximately 120 people that responded to the question chose "fun." I am thankful that only 3% felt shame when they thought of their periods, because that is lower than the percentage that I was expecting. Hopefully that low percentage helps increase honest, comfortable, and inclusive conversations about periods.

This multiple-choice question allowed respondees to choose all of the words they thought of when they thought of periods. Annoying, natural, and discomfort were the most common, and no one selected fun.

A graph shows more people saying their childhood home was positive and open about periods, and less people saying there was a negative attitude. The trend of a decline in responses with lower attitudes is obvious but not perfect in the graph.
