Nearly all respondees said that they understood how tampons and pads work, but less than half could say that they understood what menstrual cups do and how they are used.

There are a few more products that I did not offer as options in the survey, such as period underwear and daily liners. I will make sure that those are talked about in the workshop about different types of hygiene products, I just won't have data about knowledge of them from this survey.

This data was surprising and pleasing to me because I did not expect so many people without periods to know about pads and tampons, let alone menstrual cups. However, due to more openness about them in recent years, I would say this is an accurate representation of most adults in the US without periods, as well as perhaps kids ages 13-18 without periods. I hope that as the topic of periods and hygiene products becomes even less taboo, there will be even more people with the knowledge of these three types of products.
